Did you ever have one of those mornings when you can see that it is a bright sunny day but, it will be really cold if you get out from under your toasty Polartec sheets and down comforter?  It was that kind of morning for me today.  I felt like a butterfly inside a soft, warm, comfy cocoon and kept telling myself I needed to get up.  I thought when I stepped outside my cocoon I would not become a beautiful butterfly but a shriveled up walking stick.  I had animals waiting to be fed so, I crawled out of my warm bed and, sure enough, when I looked into the bathroom mirror there stood a shriveled up walking stick.    I would much rather have been this beautiful indigo bug.  I don’t know what kind it is, only that it is extraordinary.

It was 23 degrees this morning.  The prediction over last weekend was that we had a possibility for snow by yesterday.  They missed it.  It is a gorgeous day though and a good one to be out and about.  Isn’t that the way we are, when it is rainy or overcast we wish it was sunny so we could do something?  I am working at the Saddle Factory in Russellville this afternoon.  If you are in town stop by and we can chat for a while.

Several years ago I went to a photography workshop in Northern California which was titled “Attention To Detail”.  Being a photographer I was already pretty aware of the environment around me but, I learned to be more aware.  I can’t believe how much there is to see.  I almost missed this toad hiding in a flower-pot on my front porch.  My inner voice told me to look down and there it was just waiting for me to catch its’ image.

I am going to leave you on the shores of one of the ponds on my farm.  This was made in March 2010.  I call it “Enchanted Lake”.   It was another one of those times when my inner voice said, “Go for a walk.  There are photographs out there that you won’t see again.”  I hope you have a lovely day.  Think about this, “Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look at the stars.”  Henry Ban Dyke  Stay warm.  Melanie
